Gaitors - do I really need them?

So, back in the 80’s gaiters felt horrible and did they really work? I was dubious and did my research and decided on purchasing these as was diving in to a hike that would be muddy. Stoked with how they fitted and how comfortable they felt from the get go. So easy to slip on and off and the boot straps handled all the terrain (which seems to be a bug bear of some other brands). I’m not saying they kept my feet dry in a river crossing because that comes down to the boot design you chosen but would recommend these for every other situation with mud and prickles
